Orange peels are often thrown away, but with a little preparation, you can turn them into a fragrant homemade powder that can be used in tea, desserts, smoothies, yogurt, marinades, and baking.
The process is simple: wash → dry → grind → store.
Important: Orange peel powder is a food ingredient, not a medicine. Claims that it can “cure” diseases, dramatically lower blood pressure, or replace medication aren’t well established. Enjoy it as part of a balanced diet.

🍊 Homemade Orange Peel Powder
📝 Ingredients
- Fresh orange peels from 4–6 oranges
- Optional: 1 teaspoon cinnamon for a flavored powder
🥣 Instructions
1. Wash the oranges
Wash the oranges thoroughly under running water. Scrub the skin gently to remove dirt and surface residues.
2. Peel the oranges
Remove the peel. If you prefer a less bitter powder, try to remove some of the thick white pith from the inside.
3. Cut the peels
Cut the peels into small pieces or thin strips. Smaller pieces will dry more quickly.
4. Dry completely
Spread the peels in a single layer on a clean tray.
Air-drying: Leave them in a dry, well-ventilated place until they become completely crisp. This can take several days depending on humidity.
Oven method: Place them on a baking sheet and dry at about 90°C / 195°F, checking regularly until completely dry and brittle. Don’t let them burn.
5. Grind
Once completely dry, place the peels into a clean spice grinder, blender, or food processor.
Grind until you have a fine powder.
6. Store
Transfer the powder to a clean, completely dry, airtight glass jar.
Keep it in a cool, dry, dark place and use a clean, dry spoon each time.
